Strike

21 thousand workers from a Taiwanese Nike factory in Vietnam had gone on strike since the week. By Tuesday, both sides had already reached an agreement. However, some workers refused to return to work the next day and triggered sporadic clashes. The police had to be put to rest and the factory was shut down again. According to the comprehensive report of Wen Wei Po in Hongkong, the striking Qing Lu factory is located in the southern part of Longan province. Workers are required to raise 200 thousand Vietnamese Dong (about HK $96.5) to cope with the sharp rise in prices. Management, trade union representatives and workers' representatives reached a consensus on Tuesday to raise 100 thousand Vietnamese Dong (about HK $48.3) and the management to provide a free lunch solution. However, only about 17 thousand people returned to work the next day, and a factory worker was required to spend 3 days off with a worker because of a fight between a former worker and a security corner. Nike spokesman Hale said yesterday that the management would be suspended indefinitely until all the workers agreed to the agreement. According to Nike, Vietnam has 50 factories to cooperate with Nike to produce about 1/3 shoes of the company. It is a strike Lu factory. It started operation in 2002 and is one of the 10 factories that produce 75 million pairs of shoes with Nike. Last December, Nike was also on strike at another factory in the region, and 10 thousand workers were also on strike.
